New Construction

Concrete Driveway Installation

A new concrete driveway starts below the surface: excavation, a compacted gravel base, proper thickness, reinforcement, and control joints placed so the slab cracks where it's supposed to — in the joints, not across the middle. Skipping the base work is how driveways end up sinking in five years. We don't skip it.

Also in this category: driveway extensions for extra parking, new slabs for garages and shops, and shed and hot-tub pads.

Tear-Out & Replace

Concrete Driveway Replacement

Kansas City winters are hard on concrete. Freeze-thaw cycles heave slabs, clay soil shifts under them, and road salt eats the surface. Some driveways can be repaired — many can't. Here's how to tell the difference:

What You're SeeingRepair or Replace?Why
Hairline or surface cracks, slab still levelUsually repairCosmetic or early-stage — sealing and patching can buy real years
Worn, stained surface but solid structureResurfacingA fresh surface layer restores the look without a full tear-out
Sunken or heaved sections, trip lips between slabsReplaceThe base has failed — surface fixes won't hold
Spiderweb cracking across most of the drivewayReplaceThe slab itself is breaking down, not just the surface
Water pooling against the house or garageReplace & regradeThe slope is wrong, and water always wins that argument

Replacement means full tear-out and haul-off, a rebuilt base, and a fresh pour — demo and pour, done once, done right.

Decorative Work

Concrete Patios & Stamped Concrete

A concrete patio doesn't have to look like a sidewalk. Stamped concrete is patterned and colored while it's poured, so it can read as stone, brick, slate, or wood plank — at a friendlier price than the real materials. Add colored concrete or an exposed-aggregate finish, and the back patio becomes part of the design of the house instead of an afterthought.

The Everyday Work

Concrete Steps, Porches, Stoops, Sidewalks & Garage Floors

Not every job is a full driveway. We pour and replace the smaller flatwork that keeps a property safe and sharp: front steps and stoops that aren't crumbling, porches, sidewalks and walkways without trip hazards, and garage floors and slabs that are level, reinforced, and ready to use. These are also the jobs that matter most before selling a home or renting one out — nothing says "neglected" like a broken front walk.

Good to Know

Cement vs. Concrete — What's the Difference?

You're in the right place. Cement is one ingredient — the powder that, mixed with water, sand, and gravel, becomes concrete. So a "cement driveway" and a "concrete driveway" are the same project, and the same crew: us. What matters isn't the word — it's the base prep, the mix, the reinforcement, and the finish.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a concrete driveway cost in Kansas City?

Size, thickness, reinforcement, tear-out of the old driveway, and equipment access are the big factors. A straightforward replacement on a standard suburban driveway is a different job from a long or steep drive with drainage problems. We measure, check the base, and give you a written estimate — free.

How long before I can drive on new concrete?

As a general rule, you can walk on new concrete within a day or two, but vehicles should wait about a week while it cures and gains strength. We'll give you exact guidance for your pour before we leave.

My driveway is cracked — repair it or replace it?

Surface cracks with level slabs usually mean repair or resurfacing. Sunken, heaved, or spiderweb-cracked slabs mean the base — or the slab itself — has failed, and replacement is the honest fix. We'll tell you which one you actually have. The table above walks through the signs.

Does stamped concrete cost more than plain concrete?

Yes — the patterning, coloring, and extra finishing work add to the price. But stamped concrete typically still comes in below real stone or pavers for a similar look, which makes it the most affordable route to a high-end finish.

Got a driveway, patio, or slab on your list?

Send us the project — new pour, replacement, or a repair question you're not sure about. We'll tell you honestly whether it needs repair or replacement, and the estimate is free.
